VDD calls to prosecute the former deputy of the Saeima for justifying Russia’s war crimes

On 27 February 2024, Latvian State Security Service (VDD) has asked the Prosecutor's office to initiate criminal prosecution against Glorija Grevcova, the former deputy of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia, for justifying war crimes committed by Russia.

Criminal case against G. Grevcova was initiated by VDD pursuant to Section 741 of the Criminal Law in connection with a video recording published by former deputy on the video-sharing platform "TikTok", in which G. Grevcova questioned the truth of the information displayed in the Latvian Occupation Museum and expressed by the guide. During the investigation, the service also found G. Grevcova's other videos published on social networking sites, which contain indications of the criminal offense referred to in Section 741 of the Criminal Law. In video materials published by G. Grevcova, VDD found justification of war crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine.

VDD recalls that no person should be considered guilty until their guilt is proven in accordance with law.
