VDD has completed scrutiny in connection to public statements of the member of the Saeima Glorija Grevcova during her visit to the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia, and has taken the decision to initiate criminal case for possible gross trivialisation of the occupation of Latvia by the USSR and Nazi Germany.
Criminal case was initiated on 30 January 2023 pursuant to Section 741, i.e., for public glorification, denial, acquittal or gross trivialisation of genocide, crime against humanity, crime against peace and war crime against the Republic of Latvia and its population committed by the USSR and Nazi Germany.
VDD recalls that the scrutiny of the public activities of G. Grevcova was started in connection to a video she posted on "TikTok" on 22 January 2023 about the visit to the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia.
VDD will provide additional information regarding the investigation process according to the progress of the criminal case.
VDD recalls that no person is considered guilty until their guilt is proven in accordance to the law.
