Conduct of the European Parliament elections

VDD herewith provides the information at its disposal regarding the conduct of the European Parliament elections in Latvia.

In total VDD received 21 indications regarding the possible infringements of the conduct of elections or illicit influencing of voters. Currently no criminal proceedings have been initiated, however it cannot be excluded that VDD will continue to receive information for verification.

VDD has currently terminated the vetting of indications related to organisational issues of the elections on the Election Day, and no elements of crime were established. The respective polling stations and Central Election Commission were informed about the identified deficiencies.

VDD has also terminated the vetting of two indications related to the possible illicit influencing of voters, and one indication of the so-called vote buying, where the indications were not confirmed. VDD is still vetting one indication about the so-called vote buying.

Similar to previous elections, most of indications received were related to possible infringements of conduct of elections. For possible illicit influencing of voters, including possible buying of votes, four indications were received. Whereas regarding possible infringements of the conduct of elections 17 indications were received.
