On 21 and 22 December 2023, VDD conducted criminal proceedings in Moscow House in Riga in relation to possible violation of EU sanctions against Russia.
The criminal proceedings were performed within the criminal case that VDD initiated on 23 November 2023 pursuant to Section 84 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Law, namely for violation of the EU sanctions.
During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that the management of the Moscow House might have continued to receive material gains from the premises of the Moscow House, the use of which was prohibited due to the international sanctions. In addition, VDD also performed criminal proceedings at the place of residence related to one person. During the searches, VDD has seized a large amount of data mediums and documents.
Currently within this criminal case one person has been applied the status of a person against whom a criminal case is initiated.
VDD will provide additional information on the course of the investigation according to the progress of the criminal case. VDD reminds that no person is considered guilty until their guilt is proven in accordance to the law.
