On 21 February the President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid bestowed upon VDD Director General Normunds Mežviets the Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana, 3rd Class, for the promotion of Estonian – Latvian cooperation.
The Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana is the Estonian state decoration that is bestowed on foreigners who have rendered special services to the Republic of Estonia.
"The intelligence and counterintelligence services of our neighbouring Estonia are important strategic partners to VDD. We maintain close cooperation to ensure the protection of our countries’ common security interests. In addition I would like to underline that the high decoration bestowed by the President of Estonia is not only my, but also the merit of VDD", says the Director General of VDD N. Mežviets.
N. Mežviets is the Director General of VDD since 2014.
