On Monday, 22 July, Latvian State Security Service (VDD) carried out criminal proceedings in two sites in Latvia related to the former member of the European Parliament (EP), Tatjana Ždanoka.
The criminal proceedings were carried out by VDD within the criminal case, which was initiated on 22 February 2024, on the suspicion of the mentioned person's possible cooperation with Russia’s intelligence and security services. The criminal proceedings were carried out immediately after T. Ždanoka lost the parliamentary immunity granted to her along with her mandate as a member of the EP.
As a result of the criminal proceedings, several data carriers, notes and documents were seized. Currently, VDD has started analysing the seized materials.
VDD will provide additional information on the course of the investigation according to the progress of the criminal case.
