Latvian State Security Service (VDD) according to its competence provides assistance to the State Police in the investigation of a fire on the night of 19 July at the central building and warehouse of the charity organisation "Tavi draugi" at Lapeņu Street 23, Riga.
Considering the malign activities organised by Russia in recent years in Latvia and other member states of NATO and the European Union, it cannot be ruled out that the fire could have potentially been caused in the interests of Russia. Institutions that provide support to Ukraine have long been one of the priority targets of Russian intelligence and security services’ malign activities in Europe.
The services will provide more detailed information on the investigation as soon as possible.
