On 15 December, Latvian State Security Service (VDD) requested the Prosecutor's Office to initiate criminal prosecution against a person for the distribution of materials glorifying and inciting terrorism.
The criminal case against the Latvian citizen who converted to Islam was initiated on 14 August 2023 pursuant to Section 796 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Law.
The person came to the attention of VDD by sharing video materials glorifying the ideology of Islamist terrorist groups on the video sharing platform "TikTok". In the course of the investigation, VDD established that the person systematically and purposefully distributed content glorifying and inciting terrorism.
Currently the suspect has been applied the security measure – arrest.
